Journal 17: BARAKA

When I saw the first parts of the video, in which the beautiful and natural scenes, and grave religious activities were coming to my eyes, I had unprecedented relaxing and sacred feelings about what the real nature is. I remembered my childhood dream again which is living in an ideal world. For me, I learned the ideal world in my primary school book, where there is no pollution, no fight, no pressure...the only thing is enjoyment, peace, and quiet. We can image how comfortable life will be in such natural environment.

There are indeed have some ideal world and live the rustic people in the somewhere in earth which perhaps we already know or don not know. From the video we can see that those religious people have their own firm belife and the sacred culture. Sometimes I think that there might be another pure world in their heart forever. When they bless, I can tell from their sincere face, they bless their homeland, their family, and maybe the peace of the world.

However, nowadays, with the development of the tourist industry and the pursuit of profit, lots of natural environment are destoried by our human beings. Although we cannot prevent the nature scene from exploiting from our government, whenever you go to travel, except your endless enjoyment, please do not throw away rubbish freely.

Journal 16: Confucius Quote

"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."

A old story was filled with my mind when I saw this quote, which is about a run match between two animals: a rabbit, and a tortoise . After the match began, the rabbit fell behind the rabbit, but the tortoise insisted and did not stop for a while. Ironically, because the long time stop of rabbit, tortoise won the mathch. Whenever I saw something like this, I feel that I should do everything with my completely perseverance.

Last September when I arrived at the U.S., everything was strange to me, and I chould not adapted to the new environment for a long time. Talk to native people was the most hardest work for me, I wanted to give up several times. However, I persuaded myself to overcome the difficulties. No matter how improvement I make every day as long as I do not stop to try, then I will achieve my goal.

Every one is facing various of challenges in our daily life. When you want to abandon your dream, just consider this sentence and encourage yourself!

Journal 15: Analyzing an Argument

Daniel, Griswold (April 15, 2010). China- it's money. Los Angeles Times. Retrieved April 16, 2010, from http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-griswold15-2010apr15,0,2954950.story
In this article, Daniel opposes the argument by the U.S. Treasury Department that the U.S. Treasury Department should delay its semiannual in order to force China to appreciate its currency (par. 1). Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner's argument that he would delay the scheduled April 15 release is a claim of policy which appeals to reason : give more time to negotiate with top Chinese officials. However, Daniel thinks this policy is nonsense because China is the hottese major export market for U.S. companies (par. 5). Daniel gives many import and export statistics evidence (par. 6- 14) to demonstrate that the most beneficial way for America is to strengthen friendly relations between the two countries, not to pick a needless fight.

Journal 14: Letter to My parents

Dear Mom and Dad,
I hope your today is going well!

As we talked about my lone trip to Europe, it is ture that take a trip by myself is dangerous. Indeed, there are many unexpected difficulties I will face. However, we must also consider what a unique experience it is to me! At first, it is a good chance for me to learn how to live by myself in the unknown environment. I will graduate next year, and must become independent and have ability to deal with everything by myself. Second, the society security system in Europe is advanced and the people are nice, so the excess worry is unnecessary. The important point is that I learned how to protect myself from Dad,so i will take care myself, don't worry! Third, take a long trip by myself is my dream, and I want to have some colorful memories before i graduate. No matter what I want to do, you always back me up. Therefore, I need your strong support as usual. I will carefully take care of myself!

I really hope to get your permission, and start to prepare my exciting tirp. I love you, thanks!

Yours,
Dan

Journal 13: Summarize/Paraphrase Practice

As Christopher Hintonm(2010) stated in this article that the of combination of a United, US Airways deal would creat less profit than a merger of United-Continental deal. Hintomn stated that some AirlineForecasts predicted that a United-Continental combo would create an additional $5.8 billion in market value, a United-US Airways combo would create just $2.5 billion to $3 billion in additional value.(Par.3). However, some analylists pointed that the United-Continental merger process will be more complicated than the United-US because the later has the similar operational structure (Par.5). In sum, as the cooperation between United and Continental Airlines is continuously increasing, the combo of this two companies will become ture.

Christopher Hinton. (2010, April 9). A United, US Airways deal lacks luster, some analysts say United-Continental deal could create more value, but may also be too complex.
