My Favorite Holiday

Like many people in China, I like traditional chinese Spring Festival, Chinese New Year, not only because its a longest holiday but also because its specially symbolic meaning. Chinese New Year starts with the New Moon on the first day of the new year on lunar January 1st and ends on the full moon 15 days later. The 15th day of the new year is called the Lantern Festival, which is celebrated at night with lantern displays and children carrying lanterns in a parade.

On New Year's Eve, all the people sit around the desk and have a big family dinner. There are vegetables, fish, meat, fruits and drink like juice, Coke, Pepsi and some nice wine. Overall, this is a good and delicious dinner. After dinner, we always watch TV New Year progammes, which is the most interesting thing I look foward to at that day.

On the first day of the Spring Festival, most of people get up early and say "happy new year"to each other. For breakfast, people often eat dumplings which symbolize treasure After breakfast, people often make many delicious foods, and children often play cards, computer games and fireworks. On the other days, we visit friends and relatives. The most thing I like for Spring Festival is that I have enough time to visit my friends and my grandmather. I cherish the relationship with others so much that I think Spring Festival offers a best opportunity for me to share my feelings wirh others. In addition, we always have a short-distance travel with our family and some relative. For me, compare to my my parents, I like to stay home and enjoy my sleeping.

In conclusion, the Spring Festival is my favorite holiday. I look faword to it every year; however, this year I will stay in CA, hope every one has a good time at traditional Chinese festival.

  1. Even though you are in the US this year, you should still do something fun to celebrate the Spring Festival!
